CARBONDALE — Colleen Brown, 84, went to be with our Lord at 11:53 p.m. March 6, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness.
Colleen was born Aug. 4, 1934, in rural Williamson County, to Roy Roper and Helen (Chase) Roper.
Her father was a coal miner and her mother a homemaker. She moved with her family to Crab Orchard as a young girl, along with her sister, Imogene (Roper) Graves, where she graduated from high school.
She subsequently married Charlie, her husband of six decades, and raised three children. Colleen loved her family dearly, and spent her life caring and providing for them.
She was a member of The View church in Carbondale, and prior to that, of the First Baptist Church of Carbondale for many years. She will be sorely missed by her family and the many she has touched over the years through her Christian love and service.
