Delores Jean Meadows April 25, 2015

CAMBRIA — Delores Jean “Little thing” Meadows, 63, died at 1:12 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, surrounded by her family, in Kindred Rehabilitation at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Jan. 10, 1952, in Cobden to Clinton and Ruth Ann Choate Boner. She married Herschell Meadows on Aug. 17, 1968, in Carbondale. Together, they shared 46 years of marriage.

Delores was a homemaker and worked as a CNA over the years. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She had a love for yard sales, enjoyed cooking for everyone and never met a stranger. Her door was open to everyone to be a mom, grandma or a great friend.

Survivors include her husband, Herschell; children, Tammy Meadows of Cambria, Christine Meadows and John Marshall of Elkville, Kimberly Parry of Cambria and Matthew (Theresa) Meadows of Normal; grandchildren, Hanna Scott, Christopher Scott, Brandon Scott, Joshua Parry and Jaylen Marshall, with one on the way; great-randchildren, Aubrie and Cassius Spiller; brother, Ray (Lynn) Bonner of Frostproof, Florida; and sisters, Helen Sconce of Murphysboro, Betty Manning of Frostproof, Florida, Ruth Sims of Carbondale and Dolly (Roger) Newberry of Cobden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.

Services will be at noon Wednesday, April 29, in Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 112 S. Poplar St., in Carbondale with Pastor Robert Chitwood officiating. Burial will follow in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home..
