Elisabeth Jean Leighty, 74, passed away peacefully Saturday October 21, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. at Stonebridge Nursing Home in Benton, Illinois.
Elisabeth was born in San Francisco, California, the daughter of the late Gerald and Elisabeth (Pinkerton) Leighty.
She graduated from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale. Elisabeth was a lifelong member of St. Andrews Episcopal Anglican Church in Carbondale. She also was a Chapter Regent for six years for the Daughters of American Revolution, and a member of the Daughters of American Colonists, Descendants of Washington Army at Valley Forge and Volunteered at the Marion VA medical Center, and the American Red Cross Blood drives.
She is survived by her half siblings; Eldon Leighty of Oklahoma; Elaine Weyers of Iowa and Janet Leighty ~Nelson of Minnesota.
Services will be Thursday October 24, 2019 at St. Andrew Episcopal Anglican Church, 402 West Mill Street, Carbondale at 1:00 p.m. with Father Dale Coleman officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.
