James Peterson, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
James was born August 24, 1936, in Carbondale, the son of the late Woodrow and Lois (Gage) Peterson.
He was united in marriage to Julie Allen in 1983, in Carbondale. They shared over 34 years of marriage.
He was a member of the Murphysboro United Methodist Church for over 30 years. He worked for Consolidation Coal Company for over 30 years until he retired in 1998.
James is survived by his wife Julie Peterson: children; Deborah (David) Vancil; James (Julie) Peterson II; Tara Peterson; Step son; Eli Rodemaker; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Woodrow and Lois Peterson; daughter Jaime Nelson; sister; Barbara Thomas.

Services will be Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 1:00 pm. at Walker Funeral Home of Carbondale. Visitation will be prior from 11-1 at the funeral home.
