Robert Eugene Chapman, 87, passed away peacefully Thursday August 15, 2019, in Carbondale.
Bob was born May 2, 1932 in Carbondale the son of the late Hugh and Ola(Vaughn) Chapman.
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Wynn June 25, 1954 in Crainville. They have shared over 65 years of marriage.
Bob worked for The Carbondale Fire Department and retired from there with over 20 years of service to the community. He was the founding member of the Christian Covenant Fellowship Church of Carterville.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Chapman of Carbondale; sons; Steve and wife Jaci Chapman; Rick and wife Vicki Chapman both of Crainville; grandchildren; Luke (Hannah) Chapman; Lance (Jessica) Chapman; Nicole Sheer; Chad (Lauren) Chapman; great grandchildren; Lacy, Hayden, Stella, Sadie, Jameson, Kaylen and Camden Chapman.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Ola Chapman; siblings; Leon Chapman, Rendall Chapman, Hubert Chapman, Christina Bigler, Maxine Barr, Imogene Chapman.
Services will be held Monday August 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home of Carbondale with Pastor Ralph Brandon Officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery with full Military Rites. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 Monday at the funeral home.
