Reverend Sidney A. Logwood

Reverend Sidney A. Logwood is a native of Chicago, Illinois where he graduated from Worsham college of Mortuary Science and became a Licensed Funeral Director. He completed his apprenticeship at The Williams’ Chapel and worked in the Morgan Park area of Chicago for many years. He became acquainted with Reggie Walker in 2008 and began working for “Walker’s Funeral Home as the funeral director and embalmer.

He is an ordained minister receiving his training from the Chicago Baptist Institute and the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He was called as the Pastor of the Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in May of 2003, prompting his move to Carbondale, IL. Since his arrival in Carbondale he has been active in civic affairs, serving in the Carbondale Branch of the NAACP for years in various capacities including four years as president. He was appointed to the Human Relations Commission and served for six years; he is active as a member of Shekinah Lodge #241. In May 2011 Pastor Logwood was a recipients of the “Leaders among Us Award.” He is currently involved with the Center for empowerment and justice primarily focused on assisting young men to turn their lives around and become useful citizens.

He has been married to Hope Horace-Logwood for 34 years and they have six children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
