CARBONDALE — Helen Maxine (Bollinger) Sprague, 90, of Centralia, formerly of Carbondale, died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, in Centralia Manor.
Helen was born April 18, 1925, in Carterville, to Charles and Anna Belle (Smothers) Bollinger.
She was a homemaker and worked at the Carbondale Clinic.
She married Van Sprague on Aug. 22, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1983.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lingle of Centralia; two sons, Lewis Sprague and wife, Rhonda, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Robert Sprague of Carbondale; grandchildren, Pam Lawson, Sherry Griffin, Robert Sprague, Shelia LaPradd, Alec Sprague, Nelson Sprague and Rianna Sprague.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Van Sprague; parents, Charles and Anna Belle Bollinger; son-in-law, Gary Lingle; and brothers and sisters, Carl Bollinger, Hobart “Doak” Bollinger, Ray Bollinger, Reba (Bollinger) Gladden, Paul Bollinger, Wayne Bollinger, Dorothy (Bollinger) Spence and James Bollinger.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, in Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Minister Wes Henson of The Ridge Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
