Louie E. Cecil passed away at his residence on January 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Louie was born on January 18, 1937 in Carbondale, Illinois the son of the late Glen and Violet (Akers) Cecil.

Louie was the owner of L.E. Cecil Construction Company for many years. If you have concrete in Carbondale, Louie probably poured it! Louie was known throughout the industry for his bobcat services. Upon retiring, he found great joy in developing subdivisions and building beautiful homes for others. Louie’s favorite hobbies were to have a cold Miller Lite and reminiscing with his friends. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. Louie’s drive and work ethic was unprecedented.

Louis is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Cecil (Murden); daughter, Lori Ann Vollmer and husband Tom; son, Charles “Chuck” Glen Cecil and wife, Mary (Rountree), 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Jenny Crawshaw (Cecil) and Rachael Moore (Cecil), the remaining two siblings of eight children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Glen and Violet Cecil; brothers; Charles & James Cecil and sisters; Ann Pryor-Watson, Pauline Kohlmeyer and Ludine Chamness.

Services will be held at Walker Funeral Home located at 112 South Poplar Street, Carbondale, Illinois on Saturday, January 28, 2023, with visitation beginning at 10:00 followed by a service at 12:00. Following, a burial service will be at Murdale Gardens, Murdale Gardens Rd, Murphysboro, IL 62966.

In lieu of flowers, Louie was a generous donor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org.

Services will be held at Walker Funeral Home located at 112 South Poplar Street, Carbondale, Illinois on Saturday, January 28, 2023, with visitation beginning at 10:00 followed by a service at 12:00. Following, a burial service will be at Murdale Gardens, Murdale Gardens Rd, Murphysboro, IL 62966.

    It was my pressure to have known and worked with Mr. Louie thought the years. He often would visit and set down to talk. I will miss our conversions. My prayers for Mrs. Judie and family.
