Julie “JuJu” Young passed away on May 22, 2023.
She is survived by her three daughters: Josi (Kent) Rawls, Jonni (Zach) Doan, Jayli Young; and her 4 grandchildren: Colt and Reagan Doan and Kylee and Kenli Rawls. She is also survived by her parents: Mike and Sharon Williams; and brother: Michael (Tresa) Williams.
Julie worked as a barber in Carbondale since 1986. She worked at and owned several businesses in and around the Carbondale area.
When she wasn’t cutting hair, she was cooking for everyone around her. She was an amazing cook and shared her talents many Wednesday and Friday nights at the Carbondale Elks Lodge.
Julie was constantly surrounded by family and friends and had many “adopted” kids that considered her second mother.
Her memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at the Carbondale Elks Lodge on Sunday, May 28 at 3:00 PM. Memorials can be made to a trust in honor of her grandchildren’s postsecondary endeavors.
Her laugh was always the loudest and most infectious in the room. Her favorite place in the world was sitting where the water meets the sand in Panama City Beach, Florida. We have decided to honor her there at a private ceremony later this summer.
Walker Funeral Home of Carbondale entrusted with arrangements.
