Alfred Wayne Dickerson, 86, passed away Monday November 28, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale with his loving family by his side.

Alfred was born October 28, 1936 in Elco, Illinois the son of the late Grover and Sophie (Shelton) Dickerson.

He married Shirley Treat on November 21, 1958. They shared over 53 years of marriage till her passing on February 14, 2011.

Alfred is survived by his children; Doug and wife Cathy Dickerson of Hurst and Lisa and Harlan Jennings of Herrin; grandchildren, Lindsay Schroeder and husband Cory of Carterville and Gary and Jennifer Dickerson of Herrin; great grandchildren; Sam Jennings of Marshall, MI; Brylee Wisman of Johnston City, IL and Beckett Schroeder of Carterville; Madison and Sawyer Dickerson of Herrin, IL and Morgan and Nick Griffith of West Frankfort; great great grandchild; Violet Griffith of West Frankfort; his second wife Louise (Warren)Dickerson; stepson Gregory and wife Cathi Harp; step grandchildren; Breanna and Taylor Gordan and Keara Harp and very dear friends Larry and Vicki.

He is preceded in death by his parents Grover and Sophie Dickerson and brothers James, Grover, Wilburn and Harold Dickerson; sisters; Betty Fliris and Lily Betts.

Services will be held at Walker Funeral Home in Hurst on Thursday December 1, 2022 at 1:00 with Pastor Greg Parker Officiating. Burial will be at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hurst Fire and Ambulance Department P.O. Box 146 Hurst, Illinois 62949.

Walker Funeral Home of Hurst entrusted with arrangements.

Services will be held at Walker Funeral Home in Hurst on Thursday December 1, 2022 at 1:00 with Pastor Greg Parker Officiating. Burial will be at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 at the funeral home.
