Brenda Sue Maysey, 67, passed away October 9, 2021 at 12:45 p.m. at her residence in Murphysboro surrounded by her loving family.
Brenda was born October 17, 1953 in Murphysboro, Illinois to Arbon and JoAnne (Coleman) Powers. She was a strong woman of many talents from being a hairdresser for many years to her arts and crafts and all her creativity. She was a caregiver for many and loved by everyone who knew her. Her family was her pride and joy and she never failed to talk about how proud she was of them.
She has spent the past 6 years with her partner Terry Jones. They had a love for Junkin and there isn’t any place they were afraid to travel. They took many trips together filling their truck to the brim. They had so much in common and were inseparable from day 1.
She is survived by her children Jennifer (Travis) Engel, Cheri (Stewart) Childress, Benji (Kim) Harrison; three grandchildren, Jessica Lingafelter, Nicholas Childress, Charlotte Harrison; three great grandchildren, Sophia and Gemma Lingafelter and Lyla Dawley; Her partner Terry Jones; her two sisters Carolyn (Allen) Mackelprong and Anita (Lou) Kellner; and many nieces and nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arbon and JoAnne Powers, her brother Richard Powers, and husband Carl Maysey.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Walker Funeral Home and Crematory of Southern Illinois is entrusted with arrangements.
