Delores Ramona “Mona” Koons passed away on November 12, 2024 with her loving family by her side.
Mona was born in Gorham, Illinois on November 26, 1934 to the late Frank and Ollie Mankin.
She was the Class of “52” Murphysboro Township High School “MTHS”, where she led the class reunions which later became the Cruisin the 50’s and where she sent the annual newsletter to all her classmates. She was a lifelong fan of the Murphysboro Red Devils and a member of the First Christian Church of Murphysboro. Mona also worked at Luster (Curwood) in Murphysboro for over 46 years. She was known as the biggest Conway Twitty fan of all time.
Mona is survived by her sons; Richard Koons; Dwayne Koons; grandchildren; Jonathan Koons; Sommer Koons; Ryan Koons; Aaron (Nicole) Koons; Lacy (Freddy) Prosperi; great grandchildren; Autumn (AJ Wolfe) Szabo; Addison and Mallory Koons; Tyriel McArthur; Joey, Killian, April, and Sky Prosperi; her cherished B Hive Crew, the Ingrams, and her dear friend and sister-in-law Barb Yates.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Koons; parents; Frank and Ollie Mankin; brother; Bill Ingram; son; Dale Koons; nephew Bruce Ingram.
A private Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
