Dr. Gloria Debeljuk suddenly passed away December 21, 2022, at her home. She was surrounded by her husband, Luciano Debeljuk, and her son, Bruno Debeljuk.
Gloria was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on May 18, 1943 the daughter of the late Cataldo Casalnuovo and Maria Ester “Aba” Lopez.
Here, she trained at the University of Buenos Aires in the School of Medicine, where she became a doctor. Then she specialized in Pediatrics and Neonatology. Later she joined the Argentine Psychoanalytic Association, where she graduated as a Child and Adolescent Psychoanalyst.
Gloria and Luciano were married on July 11, 1980, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Three years later, Bruno was born.
Our family moved to the United States in 1984, and eventually settled in Carbondale, Illinois.
Here, Gloria joined the Social Work Program at Southern Illinois University, where she earned her master’s in social work. She began her private practice of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. Gloria also consulted at Su Casa Head Start, a program which serves migrant children and their families. After 20 years of private practice, she began teaching at the Physician Assistant Program at Southern Illinois School of Medicine.
Gloria had many loves, including travel, knitting, arts and crafts, flowers, opera, and watching soccer (Argentina & Barcelona.) But most of all she was a loving mother and wife. Her love of arts and crafts expanded to making hats, purses, scarves, and all types of jewelry. She had plans to retire in the spring and expand her crafts business to the St. Louis region where her son lives.
She is survived by her husband, Luciano, and her son, Bruno, whom both will love her forever. Niece Natalia Casalnuovo Boxler and nephew in law Victor Boxler, and their son Mario. Her cousins Stella Maris Silva; Jorge Cassina and his wife Mercedes; other family members, many friends, and neighbors. Family friends J.J. Lertora and Marta Benitez Lertora; Jesus & Rosalba Ponce de Leon, and their daughters Alba and Alejandra and dear friends Dora and daughter Natalia Recurt.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cataldo Casalnuovo, her mother, Maria Ester “Aba” Lopez, her brother, Santos “Santi” Casalnouvo, and his son, Franco Casalnuovo; along with other aunts and uncles.
She will be remembered as a person with a full life; of worldwide travel, her love for her family and friends, her many talents and sense of humor. Her family will keep her memory alive with the countless memories, pictures, and stories that made her the strong, loving person we have always known.
A Celebration of life will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale at 12 noon with services at 1:00 with tributes to Gloria’s life.
Memorial donations may be made to Doctors without Borders P.O. Box 5030 Hagerstown, Maryland 21141-5030 or https://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org.

April 29, 2023 at 10:58 amAlong with every little thing that seems to be developing throughout this particular area, a significant percentage of perspectives are generally relatively radical. Having said that, I am sorry, because I can not give credence to your entire theory, all be it exhilarating none the less. It appears to everybody that your commentary are not totally rationalized and in reality you are generally yourself not really fully confident of your point. In any case I did appreciate examining it.
