It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, cherished friend, Eddie Ray Prince, who left us far too soon on November 2, 2024 at the Marion Veterans Medical Center.
Eddie was born on November 20, 1963 in Carbondale, Illinois the son of Linda Lee Spiller.
He was a brother like no other – steadfast, brave and endlessly giving. He brought light and laughter into every room and stood as a constant support and inspiration. He was always first to lend a hand or share a laugh, and his loyalty was unshakeable. He lived his life with integrity, a generous heart, and a passion for helping others.
Though he left this world too soon, Eddie left behind a legacy of love and kindness. His spirit will live on in the memories of his family and friends, who will forever carry his love in their hearts.
He was a proud Marine. He worked at General Tire, Maytag and was a fantastic Carpenter.
Eddie is survived by his mother; Linda Lee of Elkville; siblings; Pam Mason and Timothy Murray of California; Scott and Susan Prince of DeSoto; Robin Goodin of Florida; Michelle Choate of Dowell, Illinois and his beloved pets Sammie and Boo.
We are so glad we got to spend the time together to say goodbye to him. He brought a lot of us together and reconnected us with old friends. He had a very meaningful life as well as a difficult one at the end. He was our HERO. In every way, he was something we could never be or do.
Many thanks to all that were there with him in the end and visited on a regular basis at the Veterans Center.
A private burial will be held with the family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Walker Funeral Home of Carbondale entrusted with arrangements.
