It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Gary Allen Adler,74, who passed away Thursday July 25, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale with his family by his side.
He was born February 8, 1950, in Chatsworth, Illinois, the son of the late Harry Emil and Greta (Longbottom) Adler.
Gary is survived by his partner 20 years Susan Stanhouse of Herrin, Illinois; children; son Duston Dohman and daughter Sara and Shawn O’Neill; Susan’s daughters; Amelia Smith, Heidi Brown and Heather Chambers; sisters; Patricia and Roger Cartozian; Andree Adler and her lifetime partner Lance Smith; Cindy and Larry Belland; grandchildren; Gavin, Gabe, Madelyn, Sophia, Colin, Chase, Skyler, Adrianne, Chanceler and Summer; great grandson; Aiden; and other dear family and friends; and his fur baby Tobi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Greta Adler and sister Linda Adler.
His warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a beacon of love and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand and share a smile. His memory will forever live on in our hearts, and he will be dearly missed by all. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of compassion and joy will continue to inspire us every day.
