Kay Hopkins, 74, passed away October 8th, 2018 while surrounded by family at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.
Kay was born December 21, 1943, in Herculaneum, Missouri, the daughter of the late Arleigh Laramore and Edna (Richman) Coy. She was first united in marriage with Jerry Oshia on July 11, 1964 in Potosi, Missouri. Kay was later united in marriage with David Hopkins on January 22, 1983 also in Potosi, Missouri. Both husbands proceed Kay in death.
Throughout her life Kay held positions in banking, retail, and healthcare. She was former member of the Zeigler, Illinois Chaper of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Kay is survived by her three daughters; Carla Davie and her partner Thomas Mason of Mt. Vernon, Jeanette and Chad Keel of Herrin, Michelle and Zachary Murphy of Marion, four grandchildren; Megan and Jared Diuguid of Benton, Chad Johnson and Adeena Thornton of Johnston City, Steven Davie and Lindsey Battrell of Marion, and Ayden Murphy of Marion, and two great grandchildren; Cameron and Cooper Diuguid of Benton. She’s survived by her beloved dog Virgil and cat Lucy.
In addition to Kay’s two husbands, she was also preededed in death by her parents, her step-father; Arthur Coy, her aunt and two uncles.
In accordance with Kay’s wishes, her remains will be cremated and a private family ceremony will be held in early November in Gatlinburg, TN. In rememberance of Kay and her love for animals, the family request any memorials be made to the Humane Society of Southern Illinois or St. Francis Care. The family would also like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. Donations may be made in Kay’s name there as well.
