Muriel Dorothy Isis (nee Yates; formerly Gloss) died May 1, 2019 at her Murphysboro, IL home following a short illness. She was born August 14, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Robert and Vera (Thorson) Yates. On October 6, 1951, she married Paul Gloss; six children were born to the marriage. Following their 1975 divorce, Muriel relocated to the San Diego, CA area where she lived until 2015. She legally changed her surname to Isis. Muriel pursued a career as a paralegal. She was active in the NOW organization and Polaris Sailing Club. Additionally, she was an avid reader, watercolor artist, and a devoted student of metaphysics and the Seth Material.
Muriel is survived by five children: Pam (Gene) Green, Murphysboro, IL; Terry (Colleen) Gloss, West Chicago, IL; Penni Gloss, Rolla MO; Paul (Tammy) Gloss, Winfield, IL; and Patti (Gary) Marks, Elgin, IL; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Bonnie Ervin and Karen Witter, and brother Robert Yates., as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Peggy Gloss.
It was Muriel’s request that she be cremated, with no formal services. She asked that those wishing to memorialize her do so in accordance with their individual beliefs.
