CARBONDALE — Sidney W. McGowan, 84, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, in Shawnee Christian Nursing Center.
Sidney was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Carbondale, to Patrick and Pansy (Jocomb) McGowan.
He married Eleanor Louise Barfknecht and they shared 36 years together. She passed away in 2000.
Survivors include her daughter, Gay Eady of Carbondale; brother, Daniel Fowler (Vickie) of Arkansas; niece, Misty McGowan of Carbondale; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Pansy McGowan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at The Ridge church. Pastor Wes Henson will give a eulogy at 6 p.m. and close in prayer.
